Purest Privacy Policy

Summary

• Purest records golf swing videos and performs on-device shot tracing and golf shot video analysis.
• Most videos and related app files remain on your device unless you choose to share them or use a feature that sends data to our backend or service providers.
• The app uses anonymous backend authentication for certain backend-enabled features. You do not create a named account in the current version of the app.
• We use service providers for backend infrastructure, crash reporting, analytics, messaging, app protection, storage, and in-app support.
• If you opt in to share videos to improve tracking, we may upload selected videos and related logs, extract still frames or images from uploaded videos, and use uploaded and derived materials for product improvement and model training. This sharing is optional.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use Purest for cross-app advertising or third-party ad tracking.

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Purest iOS and iPadOS app and related support interactions. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or apps that we do not control, except as described here when they act as our service providers.

Information We Collect

Information you provide or choose to send

We may collect information you choose to provide, including:

• Support messages you send through in-app chat
• Files, screenshots, logs, or other information you choose to include in support requests
• App preferences and settings, such as whether you opt in to share videos to improve shot tracing

Camera, video, audio, and app-generated files

Purest is a camera-based golf app. Depending on how you use it, the app may create, store, or process:

• Videos you record in the app
• Audio captured as part of recorded videos
• App-generated trace files, sidecar files, session logs, thumbnails, and similar technical files
• Media you save to your photo library
• Media you import from your device through system file or media selection flows

Most of this information is stored locally on your device.

Motion and technical data

We and our service providers may collect technical and diagnostic information, including:

• Device model
• Operating system version
• App version
• App-generated install identifiers
• Anonymous backend identifiers
• Push notification tokens, if you allow notifications
• Crash reports
• Error logs
• Performance and diagnostics data
• App event data
• Basic network or request metadata, such as IP address, timestamps, and similar connection metadata processed by our providers
• Device-motion data used on-device for shot tracing and camera-motion compensation, which may also be included in local technical logs or in materials you choose to share with us

Location data

If you grant location permission, Purest may attach your current location to captured media at or around the time of capture or save. Location is optional and is not required to use the core shot-tracing functionality.

Backend-enabled features and optional uploads

The app currently uses anonymous Firebase authentication in the background for certain backend-enabled features. This creates an anonymous backend identity rather than a named user profile.

If you opt in to share videos to improve tracking, Purest may upload:

• A full video file
• An associated session log file, if available

If you enable this optional sharing, we may also extract still frames or images from uploaded videos and use uploaded videos, extracted frames or images, related technical metadata, and associated annotations or labels to develop, train, test, validate, and improve golf shot-tracing and ball-detection models. This feature may not be active in all builds or at all times.

If a recorded video includes audio, that audio may be included in the uploaded video file. We do not state that uploaded files are stripped of metadata before upload. Unless the backend removes metadata, uploaded files may retain embedded metadata associated with the original file. Derived frames or images may also contain visual information from the original video, including the golfer, equipment, and background visible in the source media.

Information we do not collect directly through the app

The app does not directly collect the following from users as part of its normal operation:

• Name
• Email address for account creation
• Phone number
• Contacts
• Payment card data
• Advertising identifiers
• Golf course, hole, tee box, or round-history profile data

How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Operate and provide the app
• Record, store, and manage videos and related app-generated files
• Perform on-device shot tracing and related technical processing
• Support backend-enabled features that rely on anonymous authentication or service infrastructure
• Send or support push notifications, if enabled
• Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
• Diagnose crashes, errors, and performance issues
• Analyze app usage and technical performance
• Protect the app, our systems, and users from abuse, misuse, fraud, or security issues
• Improve app quality and shot-tracing performance
• Develop, train, test, validate, and improve golf shot-tracing and ball-detection models using optional uploaded videos, derived frames or images, related metadata, and associated annotations or labels
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

Legal Bases for Processing

If data protection laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, we generally process personal data on one or more of the following bases:

• To perform our contract with you and provide the app
• For our legitimate interests in operating, securing, supporting, and improving the app
• Based on your consent, where consent is required, such as for optional permissions or optional video-sharing features
• To comply with legal obligations

You can withdraw consent for optional permissions through your device settings, and you can turn off optional video sharing in the app. Turning off optional sharing stops future uploads for that feature. Withdrawal of consent does not affect processing already carried out before withdrawal. Depending on the stage of processing, previously uploaded videos, derived frames or images, annotations, evaluation records, or trained model artifacts may not be removable in full, including where information has already been incorporated into aggregated datasets, model evaluation records, or trained model weights.

When We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may share information with service providers that process data on our behalf to help operate the app. Based on the current app setup, these providers include:

• Firebase / Google for anonymous authentication, backend functions, messaging, app protection, analytics, and related infrastructure
• Google Cloud / Firebase Storage for storage associated with optional uploaded videos and logs
• Sentry for crash reporting, logging, and performance monitoring
• Crisp for in-app customer support chat
• Apple platform services for features such as push notifications, permissions, and media-library interactions

These providers process information to provide services to us. Their handling of data is also subject to their own privacy terms and notices.

We may also disclose information:

• If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
• To investigate or address fraud, abuse, security, or technical issues
• To protect the rights, property, safety, or security of Purest, our users, or others
• In connection with a reorganization, asset sale, financing, merger, or acquisition

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

Purest does not use cross-app advertising tracking or third-party advertising SDKs for behavioral advertising.

The app contains Firebase Analytics code paths for app events and technical analytics. Current runtime behavior may depend on app configuration. Our intent is to use analytics for app operation, quality, and product improvement, not for cross-app ad tracking.

In this Privacy Policy, "shot tracing" and "tracking" mean golf shot or ball-flight tracing and golf shot video analysis. They do not mean advertising tracking.

Permissions and Your Choices

Depending on which features you use, Purest may request permission to access:

• Camera to record golf videos for shot tracing
• Microphone to record audio together with captured videos
• Photo Library / Add to Photos to save captured media to your photo library
• Location While Using the App to attach your current location to captured media if you choose to allow it
• Notifications to support push notifications and app messaging, if enabled
• Motion data to support shot tracing and camera-motion compensation

You can control permissions in iOS or iPadOS Settings.

You can also:

• Turn off optional video sharing in the app settings
• Delete videos and related files stored locally on your device
• Use the in-app account deletion flow in Settings

Account Deletion

Purest does not currently offer a named user account system, but it does use anonymous backend authentication for certain features.

If you use the in-app account deletion flow, current behavior is to:

• Delete the anonymous Firebase Auth user
• Remove Firestore consent or quota records tied to that anonymous user
• Delete uploaded trace media associated with those records
• Attempt best-effort cleanup of related upload-consent records
• Wipe app data stored locally in the app sandbox on your device

This does not remove media already saved to your photo library outside the app sandbox.

Some limited data may still remain for a period of time in backups, security logs, fraud-prevention records, system logs, or records we are required to keep by law.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to operate the app, maintain security, provide support, improve quality, develop and improve models where you have opted in, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

In general:

• Videos and related files stored locally in the app sandbox remain there until you delete them or use the in-app account deletion flow
• Anonymous backend records associated with app functionality may remain until deleted through app workflows or operational cleanup
• Optional uploaded videos and logs may be retained for product improvement, debugging, operational needs, abuse prevention, and model-development workflows unless deleted earlier through account deletion or internal cleanup processes
• Derived frames or images, annotations, labels, and related model-development records created from optional uploads may be retained separately from the source upload for model training, testing, validation, evaluation, quality review, and abuse prevention
• Sentry-hosted crash reports, logs, performance traces, and similar diagnostics data are retained according to our Sentry plan and configuration, which may change over time
• Analytics, messaging, authentication, support-chat, and similar service-provider data may be retained according to our operational needs and the retention settings of the relevant provider
• Residual copies may remain for a limited period in backups, security systems, or legally required records

Retention may depend on operational needs, security requirements, backup cycles, legal obligations, and service-provider settings. Where a provider controls the retention setting, actual retention may vary by plan, configuration, or later changes made by that provider.

International Data Transfers

Purest and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries that may have different data protection laws than the country where you live.

If applicable law requires transfer safeguards, we expect to rely on available contractual or legal mechanisms used by our service providers, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent measures, where applicable.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of certain personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing.

For example, if applicable law provides these rights, you may be able to request:

• Access to personal information we hold about you
• Correction of inaccurate information
• Deletion of personal information
• A copy of certain information in a portable form, where available
• Withdrawal of consent for optional processing that relies on consent

To make a request, contact privacy@purest.golf or support@purest.golf. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We generally aim to respond within 30 days, subject to applicable law and the complexity of the request.

California rights

If you are a California resident, California law may provide additional rights, including rights to know, access, delete, and correct certain personal information, and to receive equal service and pricing when exercising privacy rights. Purest does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as described above.

EEA, UK, and similar-region rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar privacy laws, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children

Purest is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact privacy@purest.golf. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in a manner that requires deletion, we will take appropriate steps to investigate and delete the information as required.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. For example, the app uses standard network security measures such as HTTPS or TLS for data sent over the network, and access to backend-enabled features is supported in part by anonymous authentication and app-protection measures.

No method of transmission, storage, or processing is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Model Improvement and Derived Training Data

If you choose to enable the optional setting to share videos to improve tracking, Purest may use uploaded videos and related technical files to create derived training data. This may include still frames or images extracted from the video and related annotations, labels, or evaluation records used to train, test, validate, and improve golf shot-tracing and ball-detection models.

Participation is optional and is not required to use Purest's core shot-tracing features. Turning this setting off stops future sharing for this feature, but does not necessarily delete or reverse processing already completed before the setting was turned off. In particular, we may not be able to remove information that has already been incorporated into aggregated datasets, model evaluation records, or trained model weights.

Third-Party Services

Purest relies on third-party services. Those services may have their own privacy notices and terms that also apply to your interactions with them. We encourage you to review the privacy information made available by those providers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice in the app, on our website, or by other appropriate means.
